Radiative loss function normalization for MAS.
The radiative loss per unit volume in the energy equation takes the form \(Q_\text{rad} = n_e\,n_p\,\Lambda(T)\), where \(\Lambda(T)\) is the optically thin loss function (erg cm³ s⁻¹). In MAS code units, the dimensionless loss function \(\Lambda_\text{code}\) satisfies
\[\Lambda_\text{phys} = \Lambda_\text{code} \times \frac{m_p\,L_0^2}{n_0\,T_0^3}.\]This normalization ensures the radiative source term enters the dimensionless energy equation with a coefficient of order unity for typical coronal conditions.
